Grandma Tu’s French Gaufres

Um… that’s French for waffles.

You’ll Need:

  • 4 eggs, separated

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, melted

  • 2 cups whole milk

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 HEAPING tablespoon sugar

Separate:

Egg whites and yolks into two separate large mixing bowls

Set:

Egg whites aside

Beat:

The egg yolks

Add:

Melted butter, milk, and vanilla to the egg yolks. Mix well

Mix:

All dry ingredients together in a separate bowl

Sift:

Dry ingredients into egg yolk mixture to create a batter, mixing well

Set:

batter aside

Beat:

Egg whites until stiff peaks form

Fold:

Egg whites carefully into batter

Pour:

Batter into waffle iron

Cook:

2-3 minutes until golden brown and edges are a little crisp

Top:

With desired toppings (Try: sliced peaches, sliced strawberries, blueberries, powdered sugar, syrup, jam, honey, butter, whipped cream)
