No-Peel Applesauce
As in: there’s no peeling required.
You can use whatever apples you happen to have on hand, but I like mine with a mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp. You want to adjust the sugar as you go. We like ours a little tart, so I start with the minimum. I recommend that you take a little taste as you start mashing and go from there.
Grab:
About 3lbs of apples (probably about 10 medium apples)
2 large oranges
1 tablespoon honey
1/4 cup Grand Marnier
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3-1/2(+ to taste) cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
Using paring knife:
Core and dice your apples into large chunks
Toss into a large pot
Slice oranges in half and squeeze juice over apples (I like to add the orange zest, also so as not to waste it!)
Pour:
All remaining ingredients into pot and stir well
Simmer:
On medium-low for about 40 minutes, stirring occasionally
Mash:
With potato masher until apples come together
Scoop:
Into bowl and enjoy!
