You'll Need:

  • 1 rack pork spare ribs

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder

  • 1 tablespoon onion powder

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 2 teaspoons paprika

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin

  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard

  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • A few pats of butter (Equal to about 1 1/2 tablespoon -- Dairy Free? Dairy Free butter works great or you can skip this step!)

  • Your Favorite BBQ Sauce

Rinse:

Ribs and pat dry

Remove:

Membrane from back of ribs with sharp knife

Mix:

All rub ingredients together

(brown sugar, chili powder, garlic, onion, paprika, pepper, salt, cumin, oregano, ground mustard, celery salt, cinnamon)

Rub:

Ribs with seasoning mixture, working it into the meat

Lay:

Out a large piece of aluminum foil (Heavy duty works best)

Spray with nonstick spray

Place ribs in center

Wrap up into a foil packet

Place in refrigerator for 24-48 hours

Note: If your packet looks like it could leak, be sure to wrap in plastic wrap additionally when putting in the refrigerator to keep refrigerator clean! When ready to bake, remove plastic wrap.

Place:

Foil packet on baking sheet

Pop:

Baking sheet into a 275F oven for 3 hours

Remove:

From oven and set oven to BROIL (500F)

Line:

Baking sheet with foil, and spray with nonstick spray

Remove ribs from packet and place on lined baking sheet

Place:

Pats of butter on top of ribs

Broil:

Ribs for 6 minutes, until rub begins to caramelize

Remove:

From oven

Slather:

With your favorite BBQ sauce

ENJOY!

Note: This same concept works amazing on the grill. Low and slow in the foil packet for a couple hours, then pull it out, turn up the heat and cook directly on the grill grates.
